Clean Energy for All Europeans: ALDE stakeholder Hearing #2
The event is hosted by MEP Gerben-Jan Gerbrandy and MEP Morten Helveg Petersen. The aim is to discuss the Commission proposals related to the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
OpenExp is invited to present on its on-going analysis of the EED and the EPBD impact assessments. As shown in the attached presentation:
- The Commission scenarios project energy savings to be the first fuel of Europe in 2030.
- The sum of renewables and energy savings overtake the sum of all fossil fuels and nuclear energy in the scenario with 40% energy savings target.
- The projected energy savings in the scenarios with 27% and 30% target are lower than the savings of the period 2010-2020 and those achieved over the period 2005-2015.
- The residential and tertiary sectors are projected to lead the decarbonisation of the demand side resulting in a drastic reduction of gas imports.
