Energy Savings: First Fuel of Europe by 2030
In the traditional vision of the primary energy mix, the EU will be fuelled by 2030 first by oil and fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) will meet 60% of the EU energy demand (based on PRIMES 2013 modelling results)
But if as stated by the Energy Union Framework Startegy energy savings are treated as an energy source on its own, the picture will be slightly different
Europe will be fuelled first by energy savings by 2030 and if a 40% energy savings target is adopted the sum of energy savings and renewables will overtake the sum of all fossil fuels together (base on PRIMES 2013 modelling results).
